What is Naturopathic Medicine?

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct and exclusive health care system that addresses the root cause of illness. Naturopathic Medicine promotes health and vitality using natural modalities that are grounded in science and focused on healing the whole person through individualized treatment and supporting the body’s natural and innate ability to heal.

It is a unique and non invasive system of health care that allows for comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment from a holistic and well rounded perspective that takes into account body, mind and spirit.

“The strength of Naturopathic medicine is to uncover and treat the root causes of illness. Its beauty lies in the long lasting therapeutic relationship that is cultivated between practitioner and patient. It goes beyond the ‘one time doctor visit’ and is instead designed to support you at different times of your life as needs and physiology shift based on changing life cycles.”

The Naturopathic Approach

Naturopathic therapies include personalized nutrition, functional supplements, botanical herbs, acupuncture, bioidentical hormones, and nutritional IV therapies. These therapies will come together in a customized treatment plan that will:

  • Remove obstacles to healing with specific lifestyle recommendations around diet, sleep hygiene and avoidance of environmental toxins
  • Strengthen weakened systems due to inflammation, hormonal imbalances, or disrupted blood sugar metabolism
  • Support the body’s innate ability to heal by identifying and treating nutrient deficiencies, optimizing hydration, fresh air, and addressing emotional needs using hypnotherapy as needed
  • The strength of Naturopathic medicine is to uncover and treat the root causes of illness. Its beauty lies in the long lasting therapeutic relationship that is cultivated between practitioner and patient. It goes beyond the ‘one time doctor visit’ and is instead designed to support you at different times of your life as needs and physiology shift based on changing life cycles.

Naturopathic Medicine: The Process

Naturopathic Intake & Assessment

The initial 60 minute consultation will include a comprehensive medical intake that will deep dive into each of your health concerns. Your previous bloodwork and medical records will be reviewed and any further testing that needs to be done will be requisitioned at this time. These tests may include standard blood tests or can include functional and/or genetic testing like salivary testing, comprehensive stool analysis or environmental toxicity testing as appropriate.

Individualized Plan

An individualized plan will be created for you based on your unique health concerns and goals. This plan will include nutritional and exercise recommendations, targeted supplements, lifestyle modifications around sleep and stress management, nutritional IVs and/or hypnotherapy, as indicated for you.

Ongoing Support

After your initial visit, a courtesy call will be scheduled to ensure that you have successfully sourced all recommended supplements, integrated diet and lifestyle recommendations and to ensure that all of your questions and concerns are addressed. Subsequent follow up visits are scheduled to evaluate improvement of health concerns and to modify treatment plans as needed to continue to support your evolving health needs.
